Jessica's Baptism

Today Jessica was baptized at church in the second service. I'm so grateful to have her as a sister. I respect her, look up to her, and love her so much. Hanging out with her, laughing with her, and talking to her are some of my favorite parts of each day. I can't be grateful enough to have a big sister who I can look up to, have fun with, and easily love. She makes my life so much more worth living. I'm looking forward to spending the rest of our lives getting to know each other better. Jessica, thank you for your example and friendship, thanks for always being there for me.

Mexico 2007 - Week 3: Puerto Vallarta

So, on Monday, after IHOP, the entire youth group headed to the airport and got on a plane to come back home... everyone except for me. I stayed at the airport because I was going on a vacation...in Mexico. Puerto Vallarta to be exact. It's a town on the beach in Mexico. We were staying at a resort. So, after seven hours of waiting around at both El Paso airport, and Dallas airport, I finally arrived. This was the view if you looked out the doors to the left:

Thursday (I think, I lost track) night we had a big storm come through...actually they came through every night, but this was when I stayed up and took pictures...

Friday at the pool.

We had a little pool just outside our room, and we had a big pool just down the sidewalk. Both the pool and the beach were completely empty of people all week long. It was really nice...

At the edge of the pool, there was a low wall that allowed the water to flow over it, so that when you were in the pool, as you looked out, it looked as if you were in the ocean... if there was a little more water in the pool, you would be able to see it in this picture...

The Moon...

Saturday morning, I got on a plane, flew separate to Dallas, where my family met me five hours later. We then spent the day in Dallas, and visited some relatives of ours there. Sunday morning we flew from Dallas and arrived back in DC at 11:40am.

Mexico 2007 - Week 2

Below is Marcos. We became friends at the beginning of week two. Not long afterwards he was calling me his hermano "brother". Every time I saw him for the rest of the week, he would run up to me and give me a hug. He said that he had been at the Ranch for five months.

On Wednesday, a huge storm blew through. We were all told to pack everything up, get inside, and stay away from the windows. So, being the obedient ones that we are, everyone went outside and watched the storm...

On Saturday, we went to Cattleman's Steakhouse in Texas. It was absolutely amazing. They had a zoo there, and the best steak I've ever eaten in my life.

While we were there, we told the people at the restaurant that it was Brew's 50th birthday. They brought out a small cake and sang to him. He seemed to really enjoy the attention.

The sunset at Cattleman's was absolutely amazing...

The next day, Sunday, we went to church, the market, and then back to church for the annual US vs. Mexico soccer game. We won. I forgot the score. It was like 3-1 or something...

Half-time came when someone popped the ball and we had to wait for a new one...

Below is a picture of Jake, one of the interns at the Ranch. He's a pretty funny guy, and he's really good at telling stories. So good that both weeks he found the right people, and then made up some crazy unbelievable story and convinced them that it was true. Wyz and I just laughed at them.

When the game ended, Andi and I put a plan into action that resulted in Brewer and Maka being soaked in water balloons, water coolers, water bottles, and other such things...

IHOP - Monday Morning

Troy managed to keep us all entertained...

This guy below is Flash. He was one of the interns at the Ranch this year. He is absolutely hilarious, and super cool. He is also the most "unlucky" guy you could ever meet. He bought a one way ticket there, and has no idea how long he's going to stay. He's already been there for over a month. Some of his stories include: getting pulled over multiple times, having a cop forget to give him his license back, not being able to get his license, flying home for one day to get a new license, burning the wrong pile of wood, spilling his dinner just before having to leave and not being able to eat that day, missing dinner, giving Jake the wrong receipt so when Jake went to return $800 worth of supplies all he had was a receipt for gatorade, and many more stories. Basically, something happened to him every day. But he is really cool. One of the really cool things he does is memorize a verse a day. Anyway, here he is:

Going up to the cross - Wednesday Morning

Ok, so Friday night I overheard James and Mike talking about how they were going to cyran wrap someone in bed. I decided I would join in on it, thereby ensuring that they didn't do it to me. So they told me that they would wake me up in the middle of the night and do it... In the morning, they woke up, wandered around the room, and drew with a permanent marker on everyone's faces...including mine. But, I was the only one who woke up when they did it. I opened my eyes and James was a few inches away from my face. As soon as he saw that I was awake, he collapsed onto the floor laughing. I didn't like being betrayed like that. So I decided to teach them a small lesson. Below are pictures of James' bed and Mike's bed. (those are all their clothes)

Yeah... so I got them good, but then they took all my clothes and strung them up out on the Sombrero (the pavillion), however, I found them before anyone saw them, and I brought them inside. I then threatened to get James again, and convinced him I was going to get him. But I was too tired that night, so I let him be.
